Want To Write a Novel?
Then You Need to Be Reading
Like me, many of you know someone who has said, “I want to write a book!”
You might also think it’s great until you hear that there’s no reading involved.
The last person who said that to me was in my writing group. He said he was willing to learn. To change. To read.
So we set some reading assignments. We were all supposed to check back in with what we read. But he never read a single word.
And it showed in his writing.
You can’t do something you don’t know anything about. Luckily, reading isn’t that hard.
Just takes one word. Followed by another. And another. Till you’ve read an entire page.
You don’t have to like the book that you’re reading. But you should definitely know how books work if you ever want to write a story.
